Volunteer Spotlight

Volunteers make the difference! Meet some of the people who make it all happen for the Lincoln/Lancaster County Habitat for Humanity:

Hung Up On Habitat

Ardy and Elton Mendenhall are "Hung-Up on Habitat for Humanity." This married couple has been volunteering with Lincoln / Lancaster County Habitat for Humanity for more than ten years, measuring for and hanging the window shades in the newly built Habitat homes.

For more than 17 years, window fashions manufacturer Hunter Douglas has provided thousands of sets of custom aluminum mini-blinds to U.S. Habitat for Humanity affiliates including the Lincoln/ Lancaster County affiliate.
The Hunter Douglas commitment extends to the grass-roots level as well. Many Hunter Douglas employees serve as volunteers and administrators with Habitat affiliates and participate in annual workdays.

Ardy and Elton began their involvement in Habitat for Humanity through Ardy's work with The Home Builders Association of Lincoln (HBAL).  She has participated in HBAL's Habitat Build in the past, and she and Elton continue to be a vital member of the Habitat for Humanity volunteer family.

Lincoln Women of Today

The Lincoln Women of Today is a not-for-profit community service organization that was chartered in 1988.  They organize projects to help the community while also providing personal enrichment programs for their members.

One such program is called "Buckets of Sunshine" which is sponsored by the United States Women of Today to promote Public relations in our community. Lincoln's local chapter fill 5-gal. buckets with cleaning supplies and distributes them to local businesses so they can give them to needy families.

For over ten years, the Lincoln Women of Today have been donating Buckets of Sunshine to families who purchase their new homes from Lincoln / Lancaster County Habitat for Humanity.  Learn more about the Lincoln Women of Today.
